Work-Related Accidents

A work-related accident is any accident occurring while engaged in the course of duties imposed upon an employee. Work Accidents and Injuries are usually covered by Workers Compensation Laws, but this does not mean that you cannot recover from the negligent party who caused the injury. Work-related accidents can cause neck, back, and knee injuries, eye injuries, repetitive trauma injuries, hearing problems, loss of limbs, occupational diseases, pulmonary conditions, or work-induced heart attack or stroke. Workers’ Compensation laws are designed to ensure that employees who are injured on the job are compensated for their monetary losses. However, these benefits are usually not sufficient to fully compensate injured workers for all damages sustained as a result of a work injury.  In order to receive reasonable treatment and or compensation, injured workers should be evaluated by a BWC certified provider.

Common work injuries include spine disorders and cumulative trauma from repetitive motions, which cause carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis. Other work related injuries include low back pain, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, and pinched nerves. These injuries are caused by repetitive movements including typing, sitting for prolonged periods, and heavy lifting.

Some studies have shown that chiropractic treatment have helped individuals return to work in half the time it would take if they had sought medical care alone. These studies have been independently performed by several states’ Workers Compensation departments.

Note: Keep in mind that your employer is required to pay for all necessary chiropractic care for work-related injuries. All work-related injuries must be reported to your employer immediately within 24 hours of your knowledge of its occurrence.

TESTIMONIALS

Hear From Our Patients…..

Dr. Hicks has been my doctor for almost ten years. Yes I said “My Doctor”, not just my chiropractor. Whenever I would visit “doctors” in the past, there was usually only one concern, and that was to prescribe a medication to temporarily fix the problem. Well Dr. Hicks solves his patients’ pain problems, as well as actively encourages a healthy lifestyle, by living a supremely healthy lifestyle himself. I have never been to an M.D. that would have me actually do exercises. They may suggest exercise but Doc makes everyone exercise. Since the new year, I have lost forty pounds from eating healthier, exercising every single day and applying what Dr. Hicks has been teaching. Thanks again Doc!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Hicks for nine years. I was first skeptical about chiropractors and what they did. However, I found him to be quite professional and comprehensive in his approach to finding out the real cause of my underlying health problems. Dr. Hicks just does not focus on my symptoms. He treats the whole patient. Every week, I become more educated about my medical conditions, pain management medication and spinal adjustments. My lower back pain is subsiding due to his treatments, physical therapy, exercises, adjustments and massages. Now, I usually function without pain medication. I find the entire staff at Dr. Hicks Chiropractic to be quite competent, professional, supportive and attentive to my needs. I would highly recommend this office to my family and friends.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hicks going on three months. When I first came I was in so much pain I didn’t think being healed was possible. I never knew what a chiropractor’s job consists of and how they could make a person feel better. As I started getting my appointments, I received physical therapy, adjustments, exercises, massages, and very friendly services. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants great care.”

My name is Dan. I am a carpenter. Last June I was working on a new five story building, when a floor gave way, and I fell approximately 30’. I woke up in the trauma unit at a local hospital. My injuries consisted of two broken vertebrae in my back, several disks out of place, sprained lower back, sprained shoulder, broken foot along with head injuries. I was very fortunate that I was not paralyzed or dead. But after a short stay at the hospital, I was sent home with a lot of pain and a few pain pills. A good friend advised me to see Dr. James Hicks, a chiropractor. I did. Just after a couple of visits my pain level had reduced considerably. My breathing was better and better. Some of the adjustments gave me immediate relief. Some took awhile. I have never been treated better physically and psychologically. Other doctors I have seen just didn’t seem to listen as well. Dr. Hicks listened and understood what I was going through. But better yet, he explained to me what was going on with my body. He did all the right things and directed me in all the right directions. I’m happy to say that a career I thought I had lost for good is back. I returned to work in a couple weeks. I give chiropractic care 100% of the credit for making this possible. My thanks to Dr. Jim.
